# Share and import persona

### Sharing Your Persona

Built a persona you love? You can share them with friends so they can chat with the same character in their own Dreamerland.

#### How It Works

1. **Generate a share code.** Open the persona you want to share and tap the share button. Kumi creates a short, unique code tied to that persona.
2. **Send the code to a friend.** Copy the code and send it however you like — message, social, in person.
3. **Your friend imports it.** In their persona library, they paste the code and import. A copy of your persona lands in their library, ready to chat with.

#### What Gets Shared

* The persona's **name**, **personality**, **appearance**, and **example message** — everything that defines the character.
* The avatar, if you've set one.

#### Important Things to Know

* **Sharing creates a copy.** Once imported, it's their persona to keep and customize. Edits they make won't affect yours.
* **Your edits don't sync back.** If you update your persona later, friends who already imported it keep the original version. Share a fresh code if you want them to get the latest.
* **Share codes can expire.** For safety, codes have a limited lifetime. If a code stops working, just generate a new one.
* **Be thoughtful about what you share.** Personas go through the same safety checks on import as when they're created, so anything that breaks the rules won't make it through.

#### Tips

* **Polish before sharing.** Chat with your persona a few times and refine the fields so the first impression matches your vision.
* **Add a good example message.** This is what really sells the personality — make sure it captures their voice.
* **Name them memorably.** A distinct name helps friends find them in a growing library.
